Day 1 – Arrival Nairobi
Your private guide will pick you up at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and brings you to your accommodation in Nairobi for an overnight stay.
Day 2 – Nairobi
After breakfast your guide briefs you on your safari in Kenya and thereafter you can visit the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. After lunch you can unwind and enjoy at the hotel.
Day 3 – Lake Naivasha
Today your Kenya & Tanzania adventure brings you to Lake Naivasha. After breakfast your private guide will pick you up for a 1.5 hour drive to the lake. This ride will take you down the escarpment with beautiful views of the Rift Valley. The Rift Valley, with its many lakes, starts in North Africa and stretches out all the way to Mozambique. You will go for 1 hour boat tour on the lake where you can see hippos from close range. There are about 1000 hippos in Lake Naivasha. You also pass Crescent Island where zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeest, rear birds and many other animals live. At the end of the day you arrive at your accommodation close to Lake Naivasha for an overnight stay.
Day 4 – Masai Mara
After breakfast you depart for a long drive to the Masai Mara. This game reserve is known for the “Big Five” -leopard, lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo- but even more so for the annual migration of the wildebeest. The Mara is part of the Serengeti plains. After checking into your accommodation your guide takes you on your first game drive in the Mara. In the evening you will arrive at you accommodation for dinner and to stay overnight.
Day 5 – Masai Mara
At the crack of dawn it is time to quickly dress, grab a cup of coffee and go for a game drive. The early morning hours are a goodtime for spotting a kill since it is still relatively cool. You also might see a glorious sunrise. After about 2 hours you will return to your accommodation to enjoy breakfast and to relax. It is up to you if you wish to stay the rest of the day at your accommodation or go with your guide on a game drive.
Day 6 – Isebanya border, Serengeti National Park
Your stay in Kenya has nearly come to an end and. After breakfast your guide drives you to the Isebanya border between Kenya and Tanzania where you shall arrive just before lunch. Your Kenyan guide will say goodbye to you. From now on you will experience the second part of The Best of Kenya & Tanzania. You cross the border and meet your new Tanzanian guide who drives you to Serengeti National Park for an afternoon game drive. At the end of the afternoon you arrive at your accommodation for an overnight stay and the ultimate “Out of Africa”-experience.
Day 7 – Serengeti
Immerse you in the splendors of the Serengeti today with a full day game viewing in the park. Explore the incredible concentration of wildlife such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, elephants and wildebeest. At the end of the day you return to your accommodation at Serengeti for a nice sundowner and overnight stay.
Day 8 – Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Karatu
Today you Kenya & Tanzania adventure brings you to the famous Ngorongoro Crater. On your way to the crater you can enjoy game viewing. You will descend 610 meters into the crater for an impressive game drive. One of the highlights is the rare black Rhino, and if you are lucky you will spot it here. At the end of the afternoon you will leave the crater and drive to the nearby Karatu village.
Day 9 –Mto wa Mbu, Maasai boma, Tarangire
Except game drives your trip also has a cultural aspect for you. After breakfast your guide drives in the direction of Tarangire. On your way you can visit Mto wa Mbu. In this lovely village you meet the local people. The village represents more than 25 different tribes (of about 127 tribes in Tanzania). Not far from Mto wa Mbu is an authentic Maasai village, visited by Ajabu Adventures only. After this visit you go to Tarangire area to stay overnight.
Day 10 – Tarangire, Arusha
After a short drive in the morning you arrive in Tarangire National Park. Here you can spot large herds of elephants near the Tarangire River, while migratory wildebeest, buffaloes, zebras and impalas crowd the shrinking lagoons. You may be lucky to spot the tree-climbing python for which the park is famous or the largest flying bird (the Kori Bustard). At the end of the afternoon you will leave the park and drive to Arusha for dinner and to stay overnight.
Day 11 – Departure
Your private safari adventure has come to an end. Depending on your (further) travel plans your guide will bring you to the airport or another destiny as you wish.
You can combine your holiday with various activities such as golfing, hiking, biking, scuba diving, balloon or helicopter flight or a nice beach holiday at Zanzibar or the uninhabited island Fanjove or Mnemba.
