Meet the people behind Ajabu Adventures
Ajabu Adventures was established in 2008 and is run by Jan Gevaert from Flanders, Belgium. Jan is a world citizen having lived in Africa, Asia and the USA but he has always had a passion for the natural beauty and diversity of Tanzania.
"In 2006 I rode my motorbike from Belgium to Tanzania. An adventurous but magnificent journey of 2 months covering 10,000 kilometers. I remained in Arusha for eight years. In 2014 I left my heart behind in East Africa for new projects in Asia and the USA. I became a US citizen and worked for 6 years as a motorcycle tour guide. This is how I rediscovered my passion for tourism.
I did not hesitate a moment when I was offered the opportunity to go back to Tanzania because to me it felt like "coming home" again. And I cannot wait to welcome you too in this beautiful part of the world."

Ajabu Adventures consists of an international, dedicated team. The Belgian/American experience is combined with Tanzanian know-how and Dutch expertise in Europe. We are known for our personal attention, commitment and high quality service. Moreover, for us every traveler counts, instead of just being one of the many. You will notice this in our communication, our flexibility and how we turn our passion into your dream trip.
Meet our guides
Our local guides have been working for Ajabu Adventures since the start and are among the most experienced, well-trained guides in Tanzania. From the moment of arrival until departure, your private guide will be there for you. Our guides are known as reliable and safe drivers. They are fluent in English and some also speak Spanish and/or French. With a library of knowledge about nature and animals at their disposal, they are happy to introduce you to Tanzania's national parks, as well as the culture and traditions of the country's inhabitants. In addition, they possess a good dose of humor and will happily teach you a few words of Swahili during your trip!

Who would not want to be always in a good mood, no matter the circumstances? For some reason, Issa is capable of seeing the positive in each and every situation and also brings that good-mood feeling over to those around him. Issa has a passion for Tanzania’s national parks and has a fun and enthusiastic backstory for every surprising encounter on the road. He joined Ajabu Adventures with Juma from the early beginnings. You will never be bored with Issa at the steering wheel and you will always feel his positive vibes in the safari vehicle.
Baraka – “Sir Laid Back”
Our big man with a golden heart. The dreadlocks might give you the idea that Baraka belongs on the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar. But once behind the steering wheel of his car, Baraka becomes the most passionate ambassador of Tanzania’s wonderful nature. Trained in a very high end and well-respected camp deep in the bush, Baraka’s only goal is to show you the most amazing places of our national parks and its surroundings. By doing that in his typical relaxed and friendly way, you will love every minute of your time with Baraka.

Comfortable safari vehicles
To travel in an enjoyable and safe way, Ajabu Adventures features a fleet of 4WD Land Rovers and Land Cruisers, specially converted for safari.
Our safari vehicles are very comfortable and suitable for photographic safaris. Each of them has a pop-up roof for excellent game viewing, extra large windows, a fridge, lots of leg space and charging facilities for your camera and phone. For the professional (and amateur) photographers we also provide a beanbag, giving you superb camera support so that you can take even more beautiful pictures during your safari!
For our tours we have no limit on the kilometers driven. This ensures you and your safari guide the ultimate flexibility and freedom during your safari!

“Unique, insane and intense”

The people, the animals, the landscape, the lodges & tent camps, the guides, the hikes, the game drives and the organization of Ajabu.
